Competa Photo Days Speaker Martin Fischer gets Master of Arts in Picture science.

Martin Fischer has been studying visual studies since 2020 and graduated in November.

The curriculum included the basics of visual studies, exhibition management and photography/art history. The studies were complemented by an Erasmus semester at the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, where a book and exhibition on water and water use in baths, springs and sanatoriums were created, highlighting the rich Soviet/Georgian heritage in sanatoriums and related architecture and their use, as well as a book on Georgian, Armenian wines in comparison with wines and viticulture in Wachau, Lower Austria. This book was shortlisted and judged at the Off Festival Bratislava in November 2023, and a corresponding exhibition was shown at Off Academia 2023. The master's thesis discussed Odradek, Taboritska 8, Prague, July 18, 1994, an image by Canadian art historian and photographer Jeff Wall, in which he highlights the numerous references to Marcel Duchamp and Franz Kafka.

This dissertation was successfully defended on November 27, 2023, thus completing the degree and conferring the title Master of Arts in Image Sciences.
